There's fresh foreign whiff in Bollywood. Melanie Kannokada, Miss India America 2007, is excited about her Hindi film debut in the crossover comedy drama, Love Lies and Seeta.
The half-Malayalee, half-American beauty pageant winner starts off admitting she is still coming to terms with the dazzling world of Bollywood, which is so different from the Hollywood fare she grew up on.www.google-gang.blogspot.com
"It's amazing how Bollywood gives so much importance to song-and-dance numbers. I don't find anything special in these dances but I am surprised by the way they get you noticed and talkedabout," Melanie said.
For someone who was once a star of her cheerleading squad during her college days, Melanie's notions on Bollywood dancing may stump you - but then the girl sure has her head firmly on her shoulders.www.google-gang.blogspot.com
She studied mechanical engineering at Stanford University and worked as a management executive at Mckinsey and Co.
"I worked as a management executive for some time but then decided to quit the job and give acting a try. Everyone cautioned me about how uncertain life in showbiz is, but I was sure I wanted to try my luck anyway," Melanie said. But then, Melanie would tell you she likes to try out new things all the time. It is something that made her pursue Shotokan Karate since childhood. She is a second-degree black belt in the martial art form and has won medals representing the US junior national karate team at the Junior Pan-American Games.
"Oh I love karate and this is the reason I seriously hope to do some serious action films in Bollywood," she said.www.google-gang.blogspot.com
In her debut film, Melanie plays Seeta, an Indian girl adopted by American parents.
